Alexandra Kaan is a litigator experienced in prosecution and defense of criminal matters; handling all phases of trial and appellate work in the Circuit, Intermediate and Supreme Courts of Hawaii as a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the State of Hawaii. Ms. Kaan is the Managing Partner of the IMMIGRATION LAW GROUP, a private law firm that specializes in Immigration Law, Business Law, Customs Defense and all federal procedures. The firm is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is also a founding member of the US Department of Homeland Security and has been awarded a medal for patrol with the USCGAUX in the Pacific Ocean during 9/11.
Attorney Kaan is an active member of The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), a professional group of over 3,900 attorneys who practice immigration law. AILA Member attorneys represent tens of thousands of U.S. families who have applied for permanent residence for their spouses, children, and other close relatives to lawfully enter and reside in the United States. AILA Members also represent thousands of U.S. businesses and industries which sponsor highly skilled foreign workers seeking to enter the United States on a temporary or permanent basis. AILA Members also represent foreign students, entertainers, athletes, and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis.
Ms. Kaan has been an educator, teaching contract law in the MBA program of Chaminade University, and holds a BS and MS degree with honors from the State University of New York at Albany. Her Juris Doctor of Law is from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She also holds a professional degree in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design.
Ms. Kaan is a rescue PADI scuba diver and as well as an aviator. She has also served on the Waikiki Coast Guard Safety and Rescue Patrol Team earning a Medal and Commendation in September, 2003 for assisting with life-saving rescues during the 34th Annual Waikiki Rough Water Swim, helping to recover over 100 participants. She was awarded the FEMA Volunteer citation for her efforts during Hurricane Iniki, September, 1993 and served the SBA, with security clearance to sign checks on the US Treasury. Ms. Kaan was awarded the Presidential Citation for being the first women officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Waikiki Rotary Club, District 5000. She has chaired the KIDS VOTE committee and the Rotary Foundation Scholarship Committee for the Waikiki Rotary and had served as it's Sergeant At Arms. Alexandra Kaan is a Democratic Party Candidate for US House of Representatives, Greater Oahu and is running on a platform for immigration reform.
